The Scramble

Exactly like a normal scramble; but after all four players tee off and pick the best drive, the person whose shot is chosen has to sit out the next stroke. You keep repeating this cycle for every shot leading up to the hole. Once your team reaches the green, the rule drops and all four players get to putt.

Drive Minimum

Each player's tee shot must be used at least three times over the round. Opposing teams track each other's drive usage as part of paired scoring. Fall short of the minimum and your team is disqualified from prize eligibility.

Min. 3 drives per player · DQ if missed

The Playoff

After 18 holes, the top three teams, plus any ties for third, head to a one-hole aggregate playoff on Hole 18. Still tied after that hole? A closest-to-the-pin shoot-off decides it, one shot per player.

FAQ

Answers to the usual.

No. 07
01

What's included in the entry fee?+

Every player gets a cart and range balls for the round, 18 holes at Apple Tree, a BBQ buffet after play, entry to all four on-course contests, and a premium swag bag valued at $50+. A significant portion of your fee also goes to the LSAW Cascade Columbia Outreach Development Fund.

02

Are you accepting individual players?+

Not this year. The tournament is full-team only. If you're short a player or two, post in the LSAW Cascade Columbia members channel and we'll help you fill out a foursome before registration closes.

03

What exactly is a Florida Scramble?+

All four players tee off, the team picks the best shot, but whoever hit it sits out the next stroke. The remaining three play on until the ball reaches the green, where all four players may putt. It adds a layer of strategy and makes sure everyone's skills get tested.

04

With $5,000 on the line, how do you prevent cheating?+

Two safeguards. Paired Scoring: every team is randomly paired with another team, who fills out and turns in your card. Verified Cards: every scorecard must be signed by the pairing team, and unsigned or unverifiable cards are disqualified.

05

How does the playoff work?+

The top three teams, plus any ties for third, head to a one-hole aggregate playoff on Hole 18 right after your round. Still tied after that hole? A closest-to-the-pin shoot-off decides it: one shot per player, closest ball to the pin wins. The shoot-off location is set by the tournament committee that day.

06

Is there a dress code?+

Standard golf attire: collared shirts, no denim. You're representing the profession, and you might be holding a $5,000 check by the end of the day, so look sharp.

07

Where do the proceeds go?+

To the LSAW Cascade Columbia Outreach Development Fund, which supports scholarships for the next generation of surveyors and outreach programs like Get Kids into Survey and Northwest Surveyor Events for Washington's vocational students and college programs.

08

Can I sponsor and play?+

Absolutely. Register your team and pick any sponsorship tier, or sponsor on its own. We'll recognize your firm in the program either way.

09

How do refunds work?+

After payment, refunds minus processing fees are available up to 30 days before the event. Within 30 days, we can transfer your spot to another team.

10

Can we improve our lie?+

You can move the ball up to one club length for a cleaner stance, but you can't move it out of a hazard, bunker, or rough if that's where the selected shot landed.

11

If our team is short a player, do we get extra shots for them?+

No. A player can't take extra shots in place of an absent teammate. The Florida-scramble rotation just continues among whoever's playing.

12

Can we play a practice round?+

Yes. Apple Tree is open for practice the day before the tournament for $60 plus cart.

13

When's the registration and sponsorship deadline?+

Team registration closes October 1st. Sponsorship registration closes October 7th.
